Itinerary
We start the tour early morning and straightly head to Chilaw Hindu temple which is also known as Munneswaram temple. Munneswaram temple is an important regional Hindu temple complex in Sri Lanka. Then we head to Anuradhapura ancient city. Anuradhapura is one of the ancient monastic capitals in Sri Lanka and also it is a UNESCO world heritage site. First we visit Sri Maha Bodhi and Abhayagiri Dagaba. Next we head to Ruwanwelisaya Stupa, Thuparamaya and Lovamahapaya. Along the way we visit Jethawanaramaya, Mirisaveti Stupa, Lankaramaya, Moonstone, Twin ponds and Samadhi Statue. After finishing up with the sight-seeing at Anuradhapura you will be transferred to the hotel where you stay overnight.
Next day after breakfast we head to Polonnaruwa, Sri Lanka’s second most ancient kingdom. It is a well-preserved city of ancient dagobas, moonstones, beautiful parks, massive buildings and stunningly beautiful statues. The majestic King’s Council Chamber, the Lotus Bath, the Lanka Thilaka Viharaya, the Gal Viharaya (rock temple) and the statue of one of Polonnaruwa’s great kings, Parakramabahu are few of this capital’s memorable sights. After visiting Polonnaruwa we head to Minneriya National Park to experience the wildlife safari. Finally we head to Habarana and you will be transferred to the hotel where you stay overnight.
On the third day morning we pick you up from the hotel and head to climb up Sigiriya Rock which is also known as lion rock. Sigiriya rock fortress was built by the King Kashyapa in the 5th century to hide from his brother Mugalan after killing their father. Sigiriya is famous for frescoes and it has 22 painted pictures. It was designated a UNESCO World heritage site in 1982. After finishing up Sigiriya we then we proceed to Dambulla and see the Sri Lanka’s biggest vegetables market and do sight-seeing through the City. Next we head to the Dambulla Cave Temple which has five caves under a vast overhanging rock. There are painting of the Lord Buddha. We end up the tour by transferring you to the Negombo hotel or to the Airport.
